Laser RTK: a visible laser pointer under the receiver measures to the point, so you can pick up a corner you cannot physically stand the pole on.

Building corners, the far side of a drain, anything behind a fence. Point the laser at it from where you are standing and the receiver works out where the target actually is. It saves the walk and it keeps the surveyor out of the traffic.
