DGPS price in Pakistan in October 2026 is about PKR 1,200,000 to 2,500,000 for a survey grade base and rover set with controller, and PKR 700,000 to 1,300,000 for a single rover working off network corrections. A handheld GPS costs under PKR 150,000 but is not a DGPS. These are indicative market ranges; we quote on WhatsApp.
Tenders, NOCs and consultant specifications in Pakistan still ask for "DGPS survey" and "DGPS coordinates", a term from the 1990s. What they nearly always want today is RTK GNSS. This guide explains the difference, what the equipment costs, what hiring a DGPS survey costs, and how to read the requirement so you buy, or quote, the right thing.
What is DGPS?
DGPS stands for differential GPS. A base receiver sits on a point whose coordinates are known. It compares the position it computes from the satellites with the position it knows, works out the error, and broadcasts a correction. A rover nearby applies that correction to its own position.
Classic DGPS corrects the code part of the satellite signal and gets the rover to about 0.3 to 1 metre. That was a revolution when a plain GPS was off by 50 metres. Today a phone is within 5 metres, and 1 metre is not surveying.
DGPS vs RTK: which one does the tender mean?
RTK, real-time kinematic, is the same idea taken further. The base and rover also track the carrier phase of the satellite signal, a wave about 19 cm long, and resolve the whole number of cycles between them. The result is a position to about 8 mm plus 1 ppm horizontally and 15 mm plus 1 ppm vertically, in real time.
| Handheld GPS | Code DGPS | RTK GNSS | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accuracy | 3 to 10 m | 0.3 to 1 m | 1 to 2 cm |
| Equipment | One handset | Base and rover | Base and rover, or rover on CORS |
| Good for | Finding the site | GIS, mapping, rough areas | Boundaries, topography, setting out, control |
| Indicative price (PKR) | Under 150,000 | Rarely sold on its own | 1,200,000 to 2,500,000 for a set |
When a housing scheme NOC, a road tender or a mining lease asks for DGPS coordinates of the boundary pillars, the consultant who checks it will expect centimetre results. That is RTK. Every modern RTK receiver can also work in DGPS mode, so buying RTK covers both.
How much does DGPS equipment cost in Pakistan?
Indicative market ranges, October 2026. Confirm today's price on WhatsApp, rates move with the exchange rate.
| Setup | Example | Indicative market price (PKR) |
|---|---|---|
| Single rover on network RTK (CORS) | E-Survey E300 Pro or Kolida K6 | 700,000 to 1,300,000 |
| Base and rover set, Chinese | E-Survey E800 base with E300 Pro rover, or Kolida K30 Pro base with K6 rover | 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 with controller |
| Base and rover set, Japanese | Sokkia GRX1 pair | 2,500,000 to 3,500,000 |
| Mapping grade handheld | Handheld GPS receiver | Under 150,000 |
The controller, the Android handheld that runs the survey software, is usually in the set price. Check that it is, and that the software licence is activated.
What does a DGPS survey cost to hire?
If you need coordinates once or twice a year, hiring is cheaper than buying. Survey firms in Pakistan price the work in three ways:
- By the day. A crew of two with an RTK set, plus travel. Remote sites in KP, Balochistan or the Thar cost more.
- By the pillar. Boundary pillars for an NOC, priced by the number of pillars and the reporting required.
- By the area or length. Topographic surveys per acre or per kilometre, with contour plans and CAD deliverables.
To decide whether to buy, add up last year's survey invoices and compare them with the price of a set. A contractor who needs control every time the work moves usually finds the set wins inside a year or two. We run these surveys ourselves; see land survey services in Pakistan.
How to read a DGPS requirement without getting caught
Before you quote or buy, ask three questions:
- What accuracy? If the specification gives centimetres, it means RTK. If it says sub-metre, code DGPS will do, but an RTK set still costs you nothing extra to use in DGPS mode.
- What datum and projection? Most Pakistani work is WGS84 with UTM zone 42 or 43. Some revenue and cantonment records sit on older local datums, and converting between them is where the "200 metres off" complaints come from.
- What deliverable? A coordinate list, a CAD drawing, a report stamped by a surveyor? The equipment is the cheap part; the deliverable is the job.
The field check nobody does: before the survey, occupy one known control point with the rover and compare. If it is more than a few centimetres off, the base setup or the projection is wrong, and every coordinate after it will be too.

FAQ
Questions buyers ask us
What is the price of DGPS in Pakistan?
In October 2026 a survey grade DGPS, which in practice means an RTK GNSS base and rover set, costs about PKR 1,200,000 to 2,500,000 with a controller in the Pakistani market. A single rover for network corrections runs PKR 700,000 to 1,300,000. A handheld GPS is under PKR 150,000 but is not a DGPS. We quote on WhatsApp.
What is the difference between DGPS and RTK?
Both use a base on a known point to correct a rover. DGPS corrects using the satellite code and gives about 0.3 to 1 metre. RTK also uses the carrier phase of the signal and gives about 1 to 2 centimetres in real time. Every modern RTK receiver can do DGPS; the reverse is not true.
What does a DGPS survey cost in Pakistan?
A DGPS or RTK survey in Pakistan is priced by the job: by the number of boundary pillars for an NOC, by the acre or kilometre for a topographic survey, or by the day for a crew on site. Travel to remote sites and report-ready deliverables add to it. Ask for a quote with the deliverables listed.
Is DGPS accurate enough for land surveying?
Code DGPS at 0.3 to 1 metre is enough for mapping, GIS data collection and rough area measurement, but not for boundaries, levels or setting out. For those you need RTK, which gives about 8 mm plus 1 ppm horizontally. That is why surveyors read DGPS in a tender as RTK.
Should I buy DGPS or hire a DGPS survey?
Hire if you need one or two surveys a year. Buy if you survey every month, or if you are a contractor who needs control on site whenever the work moves. Add up last year's survey invoices and compare them with the price of a base and rover set; for a busy contractor the set usually wins inside a year or two.
